Our Story
We embarked on our adventure with a small herd of 5 pregnant girls in 2017. We are now a growing herd of 22 (14 girls and 8 boys), and our love for these beautiful creatures has grown beyond belief. Our move to Yew Tree Farm marked the beginning of something truly special. With our wee alpaca herd happily settled, we were able to develop a thriving alpaca walking and meet-and-greet experience that brings joy to visitors of all ages. The space also allowed us to expand our reach by offering placements for college and veterinary students, giving them valuable hands-on experience in animal care and farm life. Most meaningfully, Yew Tree Farm has become a safe and welcoming place for vulnerable groups, where we host support sessions focused on mental health and wellbeing. What started as a simple move has grown into a community-centered sanctuary, where animals and people can heal, learn, and connect.

Mission & Values
At Artemis Alpacas, we are committed to ethical farming practices, ensuring our alpacas live happy and healthy lives. We believe in a compassionate connection with our animals and use gentle training methods like Camelid Dynamics and Tellington T‑touch techniques.
Our core values include animal welfare, emotional support, education, and sustainability, brought to life through hands-on experiences, educational workshops, alpaca adoption schemes, and inclusive programming tailored to diverse needs . This ethos fosters enrichment not only for visitors and participants, but for the alpaca herd itself—a harmonious bond between people, animals, and nature.
Alpacas
Alpacas are gentle, intelligent, and social herd animals native to South America. They are part of the camelid family, closely related to llamas, and are primarily kept for their soft, luxurious fleece. Alpacas communicate using body language and soft vocalizations, such as humming, and they can be curious, affectionate, and even a bit cheeky. Known for their expressive faces and calm temperament, alpacas thrive in groups and form strong bonds with each other—and humans.
Their calming presence and quirky personalities make them popular in therapeutic settings and animal-assisted wellbeing programs, like those at Artemis Alpacas.
Their individual personalities shine through, making every encounter memorable.
