AUGUST ANTICS

August has been an absolute whirlwind of sunshine, laughter, and plenty of cheeky behaviour across our pastures at Ditton Fold Farm! With the summer holidays in full swing, our herd has thoroughly enjoyed the extra attention, the endless snacks, and the steady stream of lovely visitors keeping them company. 

From the boys playing up for the crowds to the girls fully embracing their new kingdom, here is a wrap-up of our favourite August antics.

☀️ Splashing Through the Summer Heat

When the August sun beamed down on Halewood, our herd found some brilliant ways to keep their cool. While the girls preferred to lounge gracefully in the deep shade of their favorite trees, the boys had other ideas. 

Watering time quickly turned into a spectator sport this month. A few of our cheekier boys decided that water buckets aren’t just for drinking—they are perfect for splashing! We’ve caught them dipped up to their knees, kicking up water, and turning their paddocks into a temporary water park. There is nothing quite like the sight of a damp, thoroughly pleased alpaca shaking off a water bath in the summer sun.

🥾 Making Friends on the Walking Trails

Our Alpaca Walks have been bustling all month long. The dry summer tracks made for perfect strolling weather, and our guests brought the absolute best energy. 

The alpacas have a real knack for choosing their favourite humans for the day. Whether it was Maia forming an instant, heartwarming bond with a young walker or the boys pausing mid-stroll to practice their best "selfie" poses, the walks have been packed with personality. Our herd knows exactly when a camera is pointed at them, and they aren't shy about flashing those famous, toothy alpaca smiles! 

The Great Treat Negotiations

During our Meet & Greets, our visitors quickly learned who the biggest foodies in the herd are. The alpacas have mastered the art of looking incredibly starved the second a treat bag

appears. They will nudge, hum softly, and give you the biggest, roundest eyes until they get their fair share of snacks. It’s impossible to resist, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way
